Long-wear and transfer-resistant foundation claims describe intended performance, not a promise that makeup will remain unchanged in every situation. Skin preparation, application, weather and friction can affect the result.

Prepare without overloading
Use the skincare that suits your skin and allow it to settle. Too many layers underneath foundation can make it difficult to understand why a base pills, slips or separates.
Follow the product’s instructions. A primer may be useful with some combinations, but it is not automatically required. Change one part of the routine at a time when troubleshooting.
Apply a thin, even layer
Start with less foundation than you think you need. Blend carefully around the nose, jaw and hairline, then add a small amount only where you want more coverage.
Allow the product to set before dressing or touching your face. Repeated rubbing can disturb the finish, especially where fabric or a mask creates friction.
Set and refresh selectively
- Use a little powder where it helps control transfer or shine.
- Blot excess oil gently before adding more product.
- Smooth a creased area with a clean tool instead of covering it with repeated layers.
- Check the result in ordinary light, not only a close-up mirror.
- Keep touch-ups limited to the areas that need them.
Read wear-time claims in context
A stated number of hours may come from a particular test method. It does not establish how the product will perform on your skin during exercise, humid weather or repeated contact with clothing.
Remove it comfortably
Use a remover appropriate for the product, following directions, then cleanse gently. Avoid scrubbing simply because the formula is resistant to water or transfer.
If the routine leaves your skin irritated, simplify it and stop using the suspected product. Persistent symptoms deserve professional advice. Comfortable wear and easy removal are more useful goals than trying to keep a heavy base untouched for the longest possible time.
